About the church and its surroundings

Fella- og Hólakirkja church is located in a beautiful and calm area near the top of Elliðaárdalur valley. The church´s beautiful environment and great acoustics makes the place well worth visiting. An excellent salmon river, interesting bird life and beautiful landscape are some of the main characteristics of the area and several walking paths meander through the valley. In the neighbourhood there are a lot of other divertive opportunities e.g. trout fishing in the lake Elliðavatn, Árbæjarsafn (an open-air museum) and two swimming pools; Árbæjarlaug and Breiðholtslaug. Heiðmörk, the largest and most popular recreational area in the city, is also not far away. Here is an excellent opportunity for a perfect afternoon with the combination of a relaxing walk and a beautiful concert.
